Meet Lily Dolores Kentfield born Tuesday, February 17th, 2009 at 3:57pm
She was born at 35 weeks and healthy as can be. Thank you God!
Labor had started very early for me at week 34 with back labor that I pushed off as back pain. We spent 1 night in the hospital trying to get the contractions under control and I was put on bedrest until week 36. We returned to the hospital again with more contraction and another night stay. The doctor kept saying if we can get to week 36 we have no reason to be concerned. Thankfully they did an ultrasound and the lungs and heart looked great so I felt some relief.
At 3 am Tuesday I awoke to the contractions and took the medication to stop them and went back to sleep on the couch. Only to wake up at 6:30 soaked!!! Guess what James my water broke! So off to the hospital.
Sure enough water was broken and I was 5 cm dialated. Let labor begin and bring on Lily!! Yes I opted for the epidural, but no that does not make me a wuss, because the had to let it up in order for me to push. So I got to feel all the pain with pushing and told everyone I was done several times. As many times as I wanted to stop I did make my goal and she was born in under an hour of pushing, by 3 minutes. James was great support and bless his heart he let me hit him a couple of times, after all he was the only person I could hit and not get in trouble for it.
Lily came out healthy as could be with a score of 8 and the highest they can get is a 10. James cut the cord and she was able to lay on my belly for several minutes and we were just in love.
Time flew by in the hospital with James, my Mom and Lily. The day we were ready to leave they decided to keep Lily one extra day for jaundice treatment, which was hard, but we spent as much time as we could at the hospital.
On Saturday, February 21st Lily came home!!
